Early in the Covid pandemic when physical distancing was helping to protect from the devastation of the virus, I came across an advertisement for a weekend online basic workshop in narrative medicine in Columbia University early in the Covid pandemic. It was soul food for me and since then I have undertaken many courses in narrative-based medicine (NBM) with the University of Toronto. Reflective or close writing is a key aspect of NBM.

I hope that you enjoy these poems on illness, grief, loss of our parents, continuing bonds in bereavement and fictionalised poems on our lived experience as a family of my younger daughter’s journey with pulmonary capillaritis. Please click on the head graphic for audio clips.
